  • COVID-19 Update for Roper Gulf Region

    18 August 2021

    The Northern Territory Government has announced that as of 1:00pm on Wednesday 18 August 2021, no additional COVID-19 cases have been found. The lockdown for the Katherine Region and the Greater Darwin Area may lift tomorrow as scheduled (Thursday 19 August 2021 at 12:00pm).

    Roper Gulf Regional Council has been closely monitoring the recent advice from the Northern Territory Government (NTG) and Secure NT regarding the state’s positive COVID-19 case and the 72-hour lockdown in place for the Greater Darwin and Katherine regions.

    The Chief Minister of the Northern Territory has formally announced that as of 1300hrs on 02 July 2021 all lockdowns have ceased i.e. the lockdown in the Greater Darwin Area and the lockdown in Alice Springs.

    The Chief Minister has today announced a 72 hour lock-down for Alice Springs. As yet there are no further updates for the Roper Gulf and Katherine Regions, however, in line with the Northern Territory Government’s recommendations, all unnecessary travel should be avoided.

  • Mataranka Cemetery Car Park Works Nearly Complete

    18 March 2021

    Construction of the Mataranka Cemetery car park is currently in progress and is scheduled for completion by the end of March 2021. At the request of the Mataranka Local Authority, Roper Gulf Regional Council funded this project to support the growing infrastructure needs in the town.

  • Road Closures in Roper Gulf Region

    Roper Gulf Regional Council would like to advise that the following roads are now closed as a result of flooding and wet road conditions - Roper Highway, Numbulwar Road, Nathan River Road, John Hauser Drive, Martin Road and Central Arnhem Road.
