Roper Gulf Regional Council will celebrate the official opening of the new Numbulwar Aged Care Facility on 29 October 2026.
The purpose-built facility provides a safe and welcoming space for culturally appropriate aged care services, supporting older residents in Numbulwar and surrounding communities to remain connected to family, community and Country.
The project was jointly funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care and Roper Gulf Regional Council.
Constructed by JK Constructions NT, the facility includes dedicated activity spaces, improved kitchen and laundry facilities, and new furniture and equipment to support local service delivery.
Mayor Tony Jack said the opening represents an important investment in the wellbeing of the community’s Elders.
“Our Elders play an important role in our communities, sharing their knowledge, culture and experience with younger generations,” Mayor Jack said.
“This facility will support our aged care team to deliver services locally, helping older residents access care while remaining close to the people and places that matter to them.”
The new facility reflects Council’s ongoing commitment to improving aged care infrastructure across the region and supporting residents to live and age safely on Country.
Community members are kindly invited to attend the official opening ceremony on 29 October 2026, arriving from 9.30 am for formal proceedings to commence at 10.00 am, followed by a shared community morning tea.
