Do you know someone who goes above and beyond to make your community a better place?
Roper Gulf Regional Council is calling for nominations for the 2026 Citizen of the Year Awards — an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the outstanding individuals and groups who make a real difference across our region.
The Citizen of the Year Awards celebrate the people, young leaders and community groups whose hard work and dedication strengthen our communities. There are three award categories within the Roper Gulf region:
Citizen of the Year
Presented to someone who has made an extraordinary contribution to their community and may recognise outstanding service over a number of years. To be eligible, the person must be an Australian Citizen.
Young Citizen of the Year
Presented to a young emerging leader aged 16 to 30 who is making a real difference in their community. To be eligible, the person must be an Australian Citizen.
Community Event of the Year
Presented to the person or group who has staged the most outstanding community event during the year. To be eligible, the person or group must be Australian Citizens.
Council will collect nominations for these awards across the Roper Gulf region. A panel will select the winners for each category, which will be announced at local Australia Day celebrations in January 2026.
Nominations close on Friday, 12 December 2025.
Don’t miss the chance to give our local heroes the recognition they deserve!
