Barunga Festival 2024

Barunga Festival 2024

What a weekend it was at the Barunga Festival 2024!

Thank you to everyone who visited the Council stall over the duration of the festival and had a look at the designs for the new Barunga Statement Memorial Project.

Bagala Traditional Owner Esther Bulumbara and Council Deputy Mayor Helen Lee spoke to The Honourable Eva Lawler MLA, Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, about the importance of the project and what it means to the Barunga community to have a memorial for this significant historic milestone.

The Council will be looking to secure funding partners for this project and progress towards completion by the 2025 Barunga Festival.

A big thank you to Paws Darwin for their support of this event! The Paws team came down from Darwin in the weeks leading up to the festival to help train the dogs and also helped today!

Here are some of our favourite photos from the festival.
